DANISH M1939 “AMALIENBORG”
The M1939 helmet (Politihjelm) is painted in a gloss black color and has a brass police badge on the front. The liner band is made of pressed cardboard and has two crossed suspension straps beneath the dome and from these, a leather crash pad is attached. Five large bolts suspend both the liner band and the two Y-shaped leather chinstraps. The leather sweatband is directly attached to the cardboard liner band and has six tabs with riveted drawstring loops. The police badge consisted of the danish national coat of arms surrounded by a laurel wreath and crown. Used by the Royal Danish Lifeguards stationed at the Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen. (see “A collector’s guide to Scandinavian military helmets” Vol. 1 by Anders Skotte).
