M33 MILITARY POLICE
This is a very particular helmet, it’s a ventless M33 used during the Allied occupation in 1943-1945 by Italian military police in Southern Italy. Usually the standard ventless M33 was used by non-fighting units. It has the three pads liner instead of the metal ring type and the chinstrap is attached to hooks directly fixed to the shell. It is hand painted black and white outside, testifying the improvised solution and the lack of organization back in those days. The three stars means a sort of rank, it was issued to the chief of a surveillance patrol. All in all it is a curious, little piece of history.
