M40 SD LW

The shell  retains about 80% of its factory applied, smooth Luftwaffe blue/grey paint with numerous small scuffs. Mostly on top there is a wide spot of rust. On the left side a second pattern Luftwaffe eagle is retained about 75% with a some scrapes. All three liner retaining rivets and both inset ventilation bushings are all intact and look original to the helmet. The interior of the helmet size 58 has an age and usage darkened, M31 tan leather liner with all eight fingers. On the leather a name and address are written by pen.  Markings on the shell are ET66 on the left side and 4857 on the neck where the soldier’s name is also painted: “Gräubìg”. The helmet comes complete with a blackened leather chinstrap in perfect condition without any visible manufacturers marks.
