RUSSIAN M17 SOHLBERG

The Russian Sohlberg is an extremely rare helmet. Apart from those utilized postwar by the Finnish civil defense, it is not common at all to come across one of these. This example has a further particularity, it was probably captured on the Eastern front and clearly reissued to second line troops by the Austro-Hungarian Army. As it can be seen it was repainted in Austrian Isonzobraun colour and fitted with a new liner and chinstrap. It looks like at some point this one has been overpainted green, then this paint was stripped off revealing the brown Austrian paint.
