AUSTRIAN BERNDORFER

This was the only steel helmet of exclusive Austrian design produced by Austro-Hungary during WW1. The total production was of about 140.000 helmets, manufactured by Arthur Krupp A. G. Berndorf. The golden brown paint is retained on 75% of the helmet. The liner is like the German type, made of three brown leather pads attached to a metal band held in place by three screws. They have pockets to take the pad cushions. Cushions are present and original to this helmet. The chinstrap is of woven material, reinforced by leather and fitted with the typical clamp buckle, perfect condition. Size should be 66 though the stamp on the metal is barely readable. Apart some spots of rust on the upper dome, this is a very good example of Berndorfer still surviving and would make great display in an advanced collection.
